Moncton City Council Passes 2015 Budget

Moncton’s 2015 budget is now official.

It was passed at last night’s City Council meeting.

Tax rates remain the same, but an increase in assessments, will mean an increase of around $33 a year on a home valued at around $157, 000.

The over $35 million water and sewer budget, will mean an increase of around $30 a year on the average household, or around $7.50 on a quarterly bill.

Some of the highlights include an investment in Codiac Transit to replace buses, money for road and sidewalk improvements projects, enhancements to parks, trails and the Magnetic Hill zoo, money for an East end pool, and continued development of the downtown and riverfront.
