The provincial Transportation and Infrastructure Minister had a recent first-hand look at the damage caused by torrential rains and flooding in Southeast New Brunswick.
Roger Melanson says one of the hardest hit areas was a stretch of Route 933 which was washed out.
He says, “In the Haute Aboujagne area, the early estimates show it could cost up to a $1 million to repair a major culvert that was washed away.”
Melanson say the Department of Transportation will be assessing the repairs on a priority basis.
The minister is urging area residents to be patient since it is winter and permanent fixes in some cases may not be possible until spring.
