NB Families For Midwives Would Like To See Province’s Rates Of Breastfeeding Increase

New Brunswick has one of the lowest rates of breastfeeding in Canada, a statistic that NB Families for Midwives wants to see brought up.

We’re currently in the midst of World Breastfeeding Week which runs until Tuesday.

Chair Sonya Burrill hopes it makes us realize that we need to support mothers both as a society, by welcoming breastfeeding mothers in our public spaces, but also on the caregiving front saying we really need supports in place that help mothers and babies with breastfeeding.

The organization says that New Brunswick moms and babies are losing out on the benefits of breastfeeding because of a lack of licensed midwives.
