MONCTON, N.B. – The City of Moncton has partnered with the province’s two health networks to distribute an information brochure on recognizing the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and other emotional issues.
The pamphlet is an effort to help residents deal with the long-term mental health effects resulting from the June 4 shootings of five RCMP officers in the city.
Human resource services GM Laurann Hanson says she hopes the information in the brochure will help residents cope.
“It’s important even months after an incident. You don’t know what’s happening in people’s lives. Our lives can be complicated. People can experience an additional trauma in their life which may accentuate what happened on June 4th.”
The brochure will be delivered this coming week to homes and businesses in and around the lockdown zone that was in place.
A copy is also available for download on the City’s website www.moncton.ca
