A burst pipe in a north end building causing a major headache for the residents of 101 Victoria Street in Saint John.
Platoon Chief Eric Garland of City Fire says crews called in to look into a water problem soon finding that water from the broken pipe on the third floor had caused significant damage and gone unnoticed until it had run down into the building’s electrical system. The power has since been shut off by Saint John Energy.
Garland says the Red Cross was called in to help the seven displaced residents who are now staying in a hotel.
A representative from Housing Alternatives arrived to take possession of the building and make sure repairs get underway.
