David James Alexander MacDonald

April 30, 1949  –  February 27, 2026

David MacDonald, 76, of Moncton passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Moncton Hospital. Born in Dalhousie, the son of the late Michael Allan and Etta (Brown) MacDonald.

David worked in the oil industry, trucking industry, and then pivoted to a small business venture renting and maintaining apartments.

He enjoyed volunteering for the NB Conservation Council where he served on the executive for the Moncton chapter for several years. One of his passion projects for the organization was collaborating with local businesses on the 100 Mile Dinner fundraiser every year.

David enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and generally taking in nature’s beauty. He, Beth, and the rest of his family and friends spent many summer weekends at his camp at the North Renous lake. Many breath-taking sunrises, sunsets, and starry nights were shared together. He also enjoyed tracking the movements of loons, moosebirds, and the many generations of rabbits that lived nearby. Derf I, Derf II… all the way to Derf XLV.

David will be sadly missed by his wife of 52 years Beth (Ryan) MacDonald, sons Andrew MacDonald (Vanessa) and Grant MacDonald; granddaughters Brooke and Bailey; sisters Susan Bowes (Bobby) and Heather Lloyd (Michael).

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Neil MacDonald and Hughie MacDonald.

A celebration of life for David will be held on Sunday March 1, 2026, at The Moncton Press Club from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. All friends and family are welcome to attend.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fergusons Funeral Home & Fergusons Crematorium, 1657 Mountain Rd. Moncton NB (506-858-1995). Services will be held privately.

Memorial donations may be made to The New Brunswick Conservatory Council. Online condolences for the family can be shared at
