Around 1200 hockey players from across the country are hitting the ice in the Hub City over the next few days.
They’re taking part in the 39th annual Monctonian AAA Challenge.
President Blair Brooks says there is some great talent on teams from across Atlantic Canada, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan, “There’s 150 or more scouts here looking for players for the Quebec league and junior teams all across Canada and the United States.”
Games are being played at the Superior Propane Centre, Kay Arena and at the Moncton Coliseum, or you can view them online.
“We have 60 teams from Quebec, Ontario, Saskatchewan, and the Atlantic provinces,” Brooks says.
The challenge got underway Thursday morning and runs until Sunday. Opening ceremonies will be held at around 7pm Thursday night at the Superior Propane Centre.
“All of the games are being streamed from the Four Ice Centre and the Coliseum, so for those who can’t get out, just log onto your computer, Monctonian Challenge, and you can do it there,” Brooks says.
