You Can Name The New Ferry

If you have a good idea what the new ferry should be called that’s replacing the Princess of Acadia, the federal government wants to hear from you.

February 20th is the deadline for submitting a name for the ferry that will operate in the Bay of Fundy between Saint John and Digby.

Saint John M-P Rodney Weston says the ferry is vital to the local economy to reach the New England market faster and that’s why the Harper Government has spent 41 million dollars on keeping the service up and running since 2006.

Submission forms are also available at the ferry terminal. The Minister of Transport will do the choosing after all the proposed names are vetted.

The new ferry is being refitted in Halifax to burn marine diesel fuel instead of heavy oil.
