Premiers Announce Atlantic Red Tape Reduction Partnerships

Premier Brian Gallant says the meeting in Newfoundland with the other Atlantic Premiers was very productive.

Gallant says they had fruitful discussions on how to create conditions that would allow economic growth, and increased job creation.

He says the premiers announced the Atlantic Red Tape Reduction Partnership which is designed to make life easier for small and medium sized businesses.

He says, “It’s important for us to realise that every piece of red tape can have a cost to it, so for us to ensure that we have a reduction in red tape, making it that much easier for small businesses and medium sized businesses to start up and expand.”

Gallant adds that’s just one element of the problem because they will also have to remove red tape on an interprovincial level.

He says the government will be consulting with small and medium business owners to find out what problems exist and what can be done to make trade easier.
