The Superbowl is over for another year, but after what is being described as the greatest comeback game ever, there may be some youth taking an interest in the sport.
With the New England Patriots down 28 to 3 to the Atlanta Falcons at the halfway point of Superbowl 51, many thought the game was over. The Patriots came back to win in overtime, 34 to 28.
Perhaps your kids tuned into the game for the first time ever last night. It was the perfect one for them to get a feel for what it is all about.
President of the Greater Moncton Football Association Joel Irvine says football is an avenue to real life, “With some of the other sports, there is a high focus on specialization and playing at elite levels. The joy of football is that it is available to everyone. When you think of football, it’s all about community, and family. It takes twelve people at once to execute a play for success, and no other sport can say that.”
Irvine adds, “Talk to any football player, they’ll always tell you when they are looking back on their playing days, the memories are there. You don’t remember scores, but you always remember the guys you play with, for a lifetime.”
Last night’s game will be one the players will always remember.
