Wildcats Season Ticket Holders To Get Discount

Season ticket holders for the Wildcats are getting a slight discount for the first four years at the new Downtown Events Centre.

City of Moncton Director of Recreation, Culture and Events Catherine Dallaire says they signed a deal with SMG Canada, to phase in a 50 cent per ticket fee.

She says this is a way to transition season ticket holders to the new facility.

“There would be no 50 cent per ticket fee for season ticket holders in the first two years, that would move to 25 cents in years three and four, and the full 50 cents per ticket would be applied in year five for season ticket holders,” says Dallaire.

She says tickets sold for every event will include this fee, and they expect it will bring in about $400,000 annually.

“That revenue, we will look at in terms of how we’ll apply it, will we be looking at reinvesting in the facility, using it for maintenance [etc],” says Dallaire. “But it is an important fund that we’ll be able to utilize to ensure long term maintenance for the centre.”

Dallaire says with about 2,000 season ticket holders, this fee exemption would represent a revenue loss of approximately $35,000 in the first two years, half that in years three and four, and then in year five the full amount will be applied.

Dallaire did say this was the only deal of it’s kind at the moment with SMG Canada and local sports teams, although she did say she wouldn’t be surprised if a team like the Moncton Magic followed suit.
