An outbreak of whooping cough has been confirmed by public health officials in Southeast New Brunswick.
During the late summer, cases of pertussis began showing up across the region.
Dr. Yves Leger says whooping cough can be easily spread from person to person through droplets.
Leger adds parents of small children should especially ensure immunizations are up-to-date.
Anyone with a weak immune system is also at high-risk of contracting whooping cough.
The last outbreak in the region was in 2012.
