WATCH: Saint John Welcomes Its 1000th Cruise Ship

The Ruby Princess cruise ship making it’s second call to Saint John and it’s also the 1000th cruise ship to visit since 1989.

Commodore Giuseppe Romano tells us he has seen many changes in the port over the years.

He says before Saint John had cruise ship terminals, the vessels used fixed gangways that had to be moved between decks because of the tides.

Commodore Romano was presented with a framed photograph of the Ruby Princess taken by Saint Johner Jordan McWilliams of the ship’s inaugural call in September.

McWilliams attended a tour of ship today with port staff, media and some of the Meet & Greet volunteers. 7 more ships will visit this season.

The 2015 cruise ship season begins in May and runs til November.
