January proved to be a relatively mild month in Metro Moncton.
Environment Canada says overnight lows were much less colder than normal.
Meteorologist Claude Cote says January picked up where December seemed to leave off.
“When we combine the maximum and minimum temperature over the entire month, we are looking at 3 degrees Celsius, which was very significant,” says Cote.
December was more than 4 degrees above average.
Cote notes both rainfall and snowfall were also below average last month.
