This week, 150 volunteers in New Brunswick will start their training for the first cross-Canada Point-in-Time Homeless Count.
Barb Day is the Assistant Coordinator for Saint John. She says it’s to better understand the homeless population as a whole and to find ways to provide better services.
Day says the goal it to get a better idea of the number of homeless people living both on the streets and in shelters.
Volunteers will be sent to both shelters and popular areas where homeless people tend to sleep outside.
In New Brunswick four communities are participating, including Saint John, Moncton, Fredericton and Bathurst.
