Perception is not always reality, especially when it comes to crime.
Contrary to what many people might believe, the crime rate acros the country is at its lowest level since 1989 according to Stats Canada.
It continues to fall in New Brunswick according to the 2014 figures with violent crime declining by almost 6 per cent. More than 38 thousand 200 crimes were reported in the province last year with 9 murders.
The crime severity index is lower in New Brunswick than in Nova Scotia. You might also be surprised to learn that of all the provinces, Saskatchewan has the highest crime rate.
