Van Horne Estate Donates Over 600 Acres To Nature Conservancy

It’s a piece of Canadian History, and now it will be preserved for generations to come.

The estate of Sir William Van Horne, who built the Canadian Pacific Railway, has donated 606 acres in southwestern Newfoundland and Labrador to the Nature Conservancy of Canada.

Sally Hannon is a direct descendant of Van Horne and she explains it’s home to forests, barrens, caribou, bear, and rare plant species and her family is delighted to see it preserved for all Canadians.

Sir William Van Horne had a well known summer home in The Maritimes, on historic Ministers Island near St. Andrews.
