It’s official. Willie O’Ree has been called to the hall. He’s part of the 2018 class that will join the Hockey Hall of Fame.
The 82-year-old from Fredericton broke the colour barrier in the NHL 60 years ago. He was a winger with the Boston Bruins.

Also joining O’Ree are netminder Martin Brodeur who spent 21 seasons with the New Jersey Devils where he won three Stanley Cups.
He is currently is the assistant general manager with the St. Louis Blues.
Martin St. Louis is another inductee. He spent 17 years in the NHL and won a Stanley Cup with Tampa Bay.
He played in 1134 games, scoring 1033 points over his career.

Gary Bettman has also been called to the hall along with Alexander Yakushev who was one of the stars of the Soviet team that played the 1972 Summit Series and Jayna Hefford who played for Team Canada’s women’s hockey team at five different Olympics winning gold in 2002.
