Codiac RCMP have now removed blockades in the Katherine Avenue, Mountain Road, Mapleton Road, Kendra Street, Connaught Avenue, Killam Drive, Anne Street and West Lane areas in Moncton.
Officers cordoned off the area after reports this morning of a suspicious man, who reportedly had what looked like an assault rifle.
At around 11:15am, police received a call that a man was walking down Katherine Avenue with what appeared to be a firearm. They conducted an extensive search and canvassed homes within several city blocks around the area, but the man was not located, and there have been no further sightings.
Police are continuing to investigate.
The man is described as possibly in his late teens with dark-coloured hair. He is of average height and possibly a slim build. He was wearing dark-coloured pants and a grey-coloured jacket with red stripes on the sleeves. He was also wearing a dark-coloured, knitted toque.
If you have any information, you are asked to report it to Codiac RCMP or Crimestoppers.
