Update: Harper “Canada Will Not Be Intimidated”

Prime Minister Stephen Harper is calling the shootings in Ottawa “acts of terror”. Harper addressed the country late Wednesday night. He says this week’s events are a grim reminder Canada is not immune to terrorist attacks. Harper says, ” Attacks on our security personnel and on our institutions of governance are by there very nature, attacks on our country. But let there be no misunderstanding. We will not be intimidated. Canada will never be intimidated.” Harper says national security agencies will increase efforts to keep Canadians safe and eliminate threats. NDP leader Tom Mulcair says “we woke up in a country blessed with love, and peace and we will again tomorrow” Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau says he’s “deeply saddened” by the shooting, calling it “brutal and heartless acts of violence”.
