Union Pushes For School Library Funding

The push is on for the the New Brunswick government to improve funding for school libraries.

CUPE 2745 President Theresa McAllister says Education Minister Dominic Cardy made no mention of library workers or education assistants in its green paper released earlier this month.

She says they are facing slashed hours and budgets, despite the fact that libraries play a critical role in improving literacy and critical thinking skills.

CUPE 2745 represents school library workers.

October is also Canadian Library Month.
