Type Of Precipitation Hard To Predict At This Time Of Year

We’re surrounded by a winter wonderland this morning, and for some it’s a lot more snow that expected.

As of 10am this morning, 26 centimetres had fallen at the Greater Moncton Romeo Leblanc International Airport.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Claude Cote says with systems that roll through at this time of year, it can be difficult to predict exactly what we’ll get, “It’s always challenging to see how much precipitation will fall and whether it will be snow or rain.”

There were snowfall accumulations of around 25 centimetres of snow from Sackville to Bouctouche. In the Sussex and Saint John region, this storm came in the form of mostly rain.
