Tri-Communities Formalize Long Standing Cooperation On Regional Economic Issues

The tri-communities have signed an agreement formalizing their longstanding cooperation on issues of ergional economic growth development.

Moncton Mayor Dawn Arnold says the Memorandum of Understanding is about collaboration and working together.

“It’s been a commitment of mine, and of the Mayors of Riverview and Dieppe for a long time, but we really are so much better together and we needed to have this in writing,” says Arnold.

She reiterates this is all about working together.

“Together we are stronger,” says Arnold. “At this point there’s no real specific, tangible results of this, we are working towards a service level agreement with 3+ [Corporation] and in that there will be some more specifics.”

Arnold says this level of cooperation is has been producing results, and will continue to do so.

“Moncton itself has just become the largest city in the province, in the last 6 months it had $35 million dollars in building permits in the downtown, and we typically get $8 to $10 million a year,” says Arnold. “We are the number one commercial and industrial development hub in the entire region.”
