Thursday night fire damages Riverview home

Two people have been forced from their home after a fire in Riverview.

Riverview Fire and Rescue were called to Canterbury Avenue around 7:15 p.m. Thursday.

“Firefighters found smoke coming from the bungalow, with a fire evident in the kitchen on the first floor,” Chief Robin True said in a news release.

True said firefighters carried out an interior fire attack and were able to quickly extinguish the flames.

There was extensive fire damage to the kitchen and smoke and water damage elsewhere, he said.

Fire crews remained on the scene for about three hours. No injuries have been reported.

True said this was the fourth residential fire in Riverview within the past six weeks.
