Atlantic Canada needs more bodies which is why the President and C-E-O of the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council is applauding the pilot project to attract more immigrants to the region.
Finn Poschmann says the alternative is not very pretty because if the region’s population doesn’t increase, it will be more and more difficult to maintain public services with a stagnant economy. Poschmann argues a few thousand people goes a long way.
He also argues the high tax rates in the region are an impediment to immigration.
Poschmann says immigrants create jobs wherever they go because if you cross an ocean to start a new life, chances are you will be motivated to seek out opportunity with a determination to make it work.
