According to the Environment Canada website, we saw 19 centimetres of snow fall in the Greater Moncton area.
Yesterday’s storm closed schools, and slowed down traffic. Snow covered roads made for slick conditions and caused many accidents.
Many had already had their snow tires installed prior to yesterday’s storm, but Gary Howard of CAA Atlantic says if you didn’t, he highly recommends your replace all four tires for the winter season, “Some people put two on, which doesn’t make any sense at all. It’s like wearing a slipper and a boot at the same time.”
If you found yourself unprepared for yesterday’s storm…A few tips from Gary Howard from CAA Atlantic…who recommends winter tires..and having a at least a half tank of gas, “There are a lot of places in the Maritimes that are in the middle of nowhere, so if you do get stuck, or you run out of gas, you can end up in a bad situation. If you do get stuck in a snowbank, you want to make sure you have enough gas to keep yourself warm until help comes. So watch the gas tank. Also watch you tire pressure, because as the temperatures change from warm to cold and cold to warm, the tires will change as well.”
Howard also recommends that you check to make sure your car battery is working well. He says they get a lot of calls from people in vehicles after their car battery died.
