Successful AESD Youth Programs To Be Expanded In 2020

The superintendent of the Anglophone East school district has a lot to boast about this year.

Gregg Ingersoll is particularly pleased with the growth of a youth program called YOU Turn, on which they partnered with the United Way.

“We’ve reached some real in-roads in working with our community partners on keeping students in school and keeping them engaged even if they’re out of school and making sure that they can maintain their links to their school even if they’re out of school for a while so we don’t lose track of them,” Ingersoll says.

He says they’ve been expanding the program over the last 4 years.

Ingersoll says they’ll be adding another new piece to the program this year, called Corridors.

He says it’s a pathway for students who aren’t currently able to attend school or who don’t qualify for their alternative education program and is meant to help them re-enter the education system.

Ingersoll says the goal to offer the appropriate services to the school community.

He adds it’s also 2nd full year of their youth teams, an integrated service for students struggling with mental health issues which is also always evolving.
