Still no official word on cause of Dieppe apartment fire

Fire investigators say they still don’t know what caused a four-storey Dieppe apartment building to go up in flames Sunday night.

But deputy fire chief Conrad Landry says they have pinpointed where the fire started, “We’re pretty confident to say that the fire started in the attic area. What caused that, we’re unsure, so we are sending a few appliances from the air exchange unit to be analyzed by Electrical Engineers and by Manufacturers.”

Landry says the building is not liveable right now but the owner has called in a structural engineer to determine its fate.

On a happier note, Landry says firefighters have rescued five cats, including one yesterday afternoon and it was reunited with its owners.
