Special Greyhound Finds Forever Home

A happy ending for a greyhound.

The Maritime Greyhound Adoption Program brought DS Unique Unit to Canada last week. He was injured in a race, and broke a bone in his leg. Because of the way it healed, it now moves and looks a little different than other dogs. He was passed over many times at the kennel in the United States, because of the way he looked.

President and Founder Deb Levasseur says a woman from Nova Scotia adopted him this week, and his name is now Nelson, “She is going to help build up his leg slowly. There’s a lot of muscle wasting on that shoulder, and it’s actually concave on that side where the muscle needs to be worked back up. His new Owners are absolutely thrilled with him.”

Levasseur says Nelson’s new owner, has a lot of experience with the dog breed. She previously had a greyhound, but it passed away.
