Very disappointed but not surprised is Saint John-Rothesay MP Wayne Long’s reaction to Quebec’s motion for an injunction against TransCanada’s Energy East pipeline project.
“Do I think that, you know, the Quebec government going to court with respect to Energy East is helpful? No I don’t think it’s helpful. Do I think it’s a roadblock that we can’t overcome? We can overcome this,” Long tells us.
Long says he’s very confident the project will go forward and says he’s fighting every day in Ottawa for the pipeline.
He doesn’t expect this to delay the process even further. He points to the January announcement that federal Natural Resources Minister Jim Carr would be seeking an extension of the legislated review time limit of six months for Energy East and an extension of the government’s decision by three months. Long believes this would be in that range.
