Scouts Canada Host RoVenture 2015 In Moncton Today

You may see some Scouts and Rovers around Moncton this weekend as more than 60 are in town for RoVenture 2015.

That is a camp run by Scouts Canada that provides leadership and training opportunities to Scouts and Rovers to help them become leaders and contributing members of their community.

Council Youth Commissioner for New Brunswick Katie Beers says there are two training seminars this weekend called “Fun Active Scout Training” and “Future of Canada United In Scouting.”

“And those two aim to provide training in problem solving, communication, leadership skills and how to get involved as a youth in your community and also in Scouts Canada.” says Beers.

Beers says one of the activities this weekend is a food donation pick up in the Centennial Place subdivision and dropping them off with the West End Food Bank.

“So we’ve kind of been trying to spread the wealth by going to different organizations and community based food banks throughout the years,” says Beers. “So that it’s not always going to the same place and different people are benefitting from our volunteerism”

Beers says this is the third year they have done it, and they change the beneficiary each year.

The pickups will happen between 10:30 and noon today.
