RCMP Launch Naming Contest For New Foals

The RCMP are seeking help from the public, but not with solving a crime but rather naming some horses.

The RCMP Farm in Pakenham, Ontario recently welcomed a dozen new foals to the world and now they need names.

A contest has been launched so the public can offer their suggestions on what the foals names should be.

To qualify, you must:

To qualify, you must:

  • be 14 years of age or younger, or at least 18 years of age if submitting on behalf of your class
  • submit a name that begins with the letter T
  • submit only one entry
  • live in Canada
  • enter by no later than April 30, 2021 at 11:59 pm EST

The foals will be trained with the intent of making them Musical Ride horses.

The annual equine showcase features 32 cavalry officers and their horses as they show off their skills.

First performed in Regina in 1887 The Musical Ride has gone on to become a touring act that during normal times performs all over the world.

The equine showcase is featured on the backside of the Canadian $50 bill.

Although it is unlikely all of the foals will make the cut they all still require names so submissions are being accepted nationwide.

More information can be found on the RCMP webpage.
