Morning Commute Better Than Expected As Causeway Closes

Despite concerns leading up to the closure of the Causeway, reviews from motorists have been mostly positive.

It was the first morning commute, with many choosing to take the Gunningsville Bridge across to Moncton.

Spokesperson for the Town of Riverview Cathy Donaldson says they received feedback from residents who said things flowed fairly well, with delays for commuters travelling the range of 15 to 30 minutes.

Similar comments were posted to social media, with one person saying it was better then expected, and only added about 10 extra minutes to their commute.

Webcams installed by the City of Moncton and Town of Riverview were used by many to monitor traffic flowing across.

The Causeway is expected to be closed for the next six months as construction on the new Bridge continues.
