Rabies Vaccine Bait To Be Distributed In Province This Summer

Small capsules of vaccine baits will be hand-distributed in southern and western New Brunswick communities this summer in an effort to help prevent and control rabies.

This effort is being undertaken by the province and will begin this month continuing into August.

The distribution of the oral rabies vaccine bait is scheduled to take place from July 23-27 in Saint John and July 30-August 10 in communities that include Grand Bay-Westfield, Saint Andrews, St. Stephen, and Blacks Harbour. A full list is available here.

This bait won’t hurt you, your pet, livestock or the environment but keep a close eye on your pet anyway to make sure they don’t eat it as its intended for wildlife.

The province says over 400,000 vaccine baits were distributed in southern New Brunswick by air and by hand last year.
