Provincial Government To Set Up Rapid Response Units In Rural Areas

The Gallant government is looking to improve emergency medical care in the rural areas of the province with a new pilot program

It has announced rapid response units will be set up in a number of areas and these units will have the same type of life-saving equipment found on an ambulance.

Each response unit will have a single paramedic on staff to deal with a medical situation until Ambulance NB can get to the scene.

The government is looking to have these units in place sometime in the fall in Grand Bay-Westfield, the Minto/Chipman area, Kedgwick/Saint Quentin area, on the Acadian Peninsula and in the southwest Miramichi region.
