There has been movement on the site of the future downtown Moncton entertainment centre for months now, but local dignitaries officially broke ground yesterday.
Premier Brian Gallant was one of three swinging a shovel yesterday.

He says this new centre is going to have economic benefits for the whole province.
“When someone comes into the province to visit, maybe it’ll be the downtown centre that will bring them in for the pillar event,” says Gallant. “But then they’re going to go and visit other places around the area, and this will have a ripple effect for the economy province of New Brunswick.”
Once complete, the downtown centre will enhance the quality of life for families in the region. 2/2

He says 700 jobs will be created for the construction of the centre, and it will help us to ensure revitalization in downtown Moncton.
The concrete has been poured and steel beams are expected to start to going up on June 20th.
