Poll Finds Anxiety Common In Advance Of Arrival Of Christmas Bills

A survey has found that three in ten Canadians admit that they expect their Christmas spending will lead to anxiety once the bills from their holiday spending arrive.

Too much Christmas shopping can lead to a financial hangover in January.

According to the Ipsos Reid survey, Nearly one in four Canadians agree that this anxiety has led to sleepless nights.

41 per cent of millennials feel regret over how much they have spent.

As to whether or not they’ll make New Year’s resolutions to get their spending back on track? 40 per cent say they will make that commitment…But for those polled who have made that resolution in past years. 39 per cent said even with the resolution, their debt situation has remained the same, and 58 per cent said it has actually gotten worse.

Some of the top financial goals for Canadians for 2018, 25 per cent of those polled want to pay down or eliminate debt. 15 per cent just hoped to keep up with the bills, and only 4 per cent hoped to build an emergency savings.

Over 1500 Canadians were surveyed in December.
