Moncton Wildcats Close To Deal For the Downtown Events Centre

One of the big things 2018 will bring, is the opening of Moncton’s downtown events centre.

It is expected to officially open in September of this year.

This is the Moncton Wildcats last season in the Coliseum, but Director of Business Operations Ryan Jenner says a contract has not been signed for the new building as of yet, “We’re really close. I don’t want to count my chickens before they hatch, but certainly we are pretty close to a deal downtown. Our expectations is that it is going to be our last season at the Coliseum. This season, we have been doing a lot of celebrating that, with the different teams that have come through, and we’ll continue that through he end of the season.”

Jenner recognizes the advantages for both the team and the fans at a new centre, “That building is night and day from what the Coliseum is. When people get in there, in the comfort of their seats, the leg room and the audio system and the visual system, the lighting, the food services and the washroom, everything is improved over the Coliseum. It has a big league feel to it. I have to commend the City for what they have done there. Will change come with its challenges? Certainly, and we are well aware of that, and we are going to do everything we can to mitigate it, but I do believe the pros outweigh the cons.”
