The Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station will be offline for the next five to six weeks for planned maintenance.
NB Power says more than 10,000 activities will be done on equipment and systems on both the nuclear and conventional parts of the station.
It involves routine maintenance, repairs, system modifications, inspections and testing that can only be done when the station is offline.
Staff will perform the work with help from about 500 contractors and tradespeople from New Brunswick and elsewhere.
The outage is planned to coincide with seasonal increases in water flow and lower seasonal electricity demand.
