Emergency responders were called to the Greater Moncton International Airport early this morning due to an emergency landing.
A Boeing 777 cargo jet was having equipment problems, and radioed at around 4:30am that it was coming in.
Division Chief for the Dieppe Fire Department Marc Cormier says they responded along with two engines from the Moncton Fire department…but the plane had safely touched down when they arrived at the gate.
Cormier says this is common protocol with incidents like this, “As soon as we get a call for any problems, we contact 911, and Dieppe and Moncton will respond accordingly. With the practice and the drills that we do, we feel pretty confident that we would be able to perform in the case of an emergency.”
Cormier says their training is very extensive in the case that the landing ends up much worse than this one did.
