Permanent Memorial Planned To Honour RCMP Officers

Plans are in the works to create a permanent memorial in Moncton to honour the community’s three fallen RCMP officers.

Mayor George LeBlanc says discussions are underway with the RCMP to form a committee which will partner with other levels of government and consult with the families and the community.

LeBlanc says it’s important not to forget the tragedy of June 4th.

“Who can forget the enormous makeshift memorial outside the RCMP headquarters. The flowers, the photos, the signs, the children, the students and the adults who came to show the brave men and women of the RCMP and their families that they were loved and appreciated.”

With the sentencing now over and the killer in prison, LeBlanc says it’s important for the community to turn a new page and move on.
