Hepatitis impacts many people and some don’t even know it.
Today is World Hepatitis Day.
Horizon Health Public Health Nurse Penny Higdon tells us hepatitis is a liver infection which can be diagnosed through a blood test.
She says people can have zero symptoms but later on in life it can progress to liver cancer or liver disease.
Higdon also says that some people with hepatitis can cure it on their own.
She says sometimes it’s a wait and see approach monitoring the enzymes from the liver and in other cases depending upon what stage and what type of hepatitis a person has there are treatments available.
