An advisory has been issued by Prince Edward Island RCMP about a convicted sex offender being released from Dorchester Penitentiary.
27 Tyler James Bernard served a two year sentence for sexual assault against a woman, and he also has previous convictions for indecent acts involving children and women.
RCMP says he is considered to be a high risk to reoffend.
They says, “Decisions on whether or not to do a public advisory when inmates are released from prison are made by Provincial High Risk Offender Committees. The decision to do this advisory was made by the PEI High Risk Offender Committee, which includes representatives from the Crown Attorney’s Office, police agencies, Department of Justice, and Victim Services. In deciding to do a public advisory, the committee must weigh the issues of public safety with the offender’s right to privacy, and decisions to do so are not made lightly.”
Bernard is being released from prison tomorrow and RCMP expect he will live in the East Prince region in PEI.
He is described as 5’9″, 134 lbs with dark brown hair and hazel eyes
