PCs Call For Full Inquiry Into Allegations Of Harassment Against House Speaker

Progressive Conservative members of the Legislative Assembly Committee or LAC are attending a committee meeting this afternoon after getting a notification from the Clerk of the Legislative assembly late Friday.

Those on the committee include Stewart Fairgrieve MLA for Carleton, Bill Oliver, MLA for Kings Centre, five Liberals and one Green.

Fairgrieve says the reason for today’s meeting has not been given to them.

“In absence of an agenda we must assume this meeting is in regards to the alleged harassment allegations against the Speaker made public on Thursday evening by Premier Brian Gallant,” says Fairgrieve.

Fairgrieve says nothing short of a full inquiry conducted under the inquiries act would be acceptable to the people of New Brunswick.

The Tories say they will have more comment after the meeting is over.
