The only Francophone MLA in the Progressive Conservative caucus is not re-offering in the September election.
Madeleine Dubé, who represents Edmundston-Madawaska Centre, made the announcement earlier this week.
PC leader Blaine Higgs says Dubé, who was first elected as an MLA in 1999, isn’t really done with politics.
“She was a key member of our group and will continue to be,” says Higgs. “She said that she wants to participate in the election, wants to work on our campaign and be part of that.”

Higgs, the MLA for the riding of Quispamsis, says he’s confident they’ll have more Francophone candidates in place for the election.
He made the comments Thursday following a Saint John Chamber of Commerce event.
