Many parents are thrilled with the recommendation for a new school in Moncton’s north end, but they’re still wondering, how do we alleviate the overcrowding issues over the next three to four years while the school is being built?
New schools take time, getting funds into place, finding the right location and hiring a builder, and then there is the construction.
Anglophone East Superintendent Gregg Ingersoll says the answer over the next three years may be getting more portables for Northrop Frye, or shuffling students to Evergreen Park temporarily, but he asks parents to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
He says, “As long as we all know the solution is coming, we can get by. It’s when we don’t know the solution is coming, when things become problematic.”
He says they’ll do everything the can to keep the students comfortable.
Temporary boundary changes to move students to other intercity schools, won’t be an option, because Ingersoll says, they can be very tough on both the students and parents.
