Two of four local federal candidates spoke at a meeting about housing, homelessness and poverty.
Liberal candidate Ginette Petitpas-Taylor said Trudeau promised 20 billion dollars for social infrastructure, including new and renovated affordable housing, and a national housing strategy.
Green Party candidate Luc Melanson said his party would institute a minimum livable income and a significant expansion of affordable housing units across Canada.
Greater Moncton Homelessness Steering Committee Community Development Coordinator Sue Calhoun says those two are well known in the area.
Calhoun says it was disappointing that the Conservative and NDP candidates weren’t in attendance to discuss issues of vital importance to Greater Monctonians.
