With all the damage from this week’s storm, many people might be wondering whether their insurance coverage is sufficient to cover their losses caused by extreme weather.
John Bordignon is with State Farm Insurance and says you would be covered if a tree blew over onto your house or car or if shingles blew off your roof and water seeped inside.
Bordignon says you should make sure before any big storm arrives that you have sewer or water backup coverage. He warns when you get torrential rain coming down in a relatively short period of time, there is no where for all that water to drain.
Bordignon says if you’re vehicle gets waterlogged, it generally is a writeoff and is covered with comprehensive auto insurance.
