Norma Mae Robertson MacDonald Locke

1937 – 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Friend, Norma Mae Locke (née Robertson) on October 26, 2025 at the Moncton General Hospital from a short terminal illness.  She was born in Shelburne, Nova Scotia to Clifford Ray Robertson and Ruth Bernice (Goodick).  Her husband, Ransom Austin Leon Locke (son of Austin Leon Locke and Vera Goodick of Sandy Point, Nova Scotia), predeceased her nearly 50 years ago and had long awaited her return.    She is survived by one sister, Lillian St. Pierre (Ontario) and her three children Raymond Wallace MacDonald (Moncton, N.B.), Derrick Steven MacDonald (Glenn) (Tampa, Florida), and Roxanne Locke (David) (Saint John, N.B.); grandchildren Nathan MacDonald, Jessica McGraw, and Ryan Locke; and several great grand children, nieces and nephews.

She was a beloved Mother, Aunt, Grandmother and Friend and will be surely missed by all who knew her.  She was the youngest of three girls and grew up with her two sisters in a loving home in Shelburne, Nova Scotia.  She attended Horton Academy in Wolfville, Nova Scotia and later went to business school in Belleville, Ontario where she spent many enjoyable days living with her eldest sister Kathleen, her husband Jimmy Rutherford and their children before returning to Halifax, N.S. where she met and married Wallace MacDonald.  After a few years she and Wallace divorced and she returned to Shelburne where she rekindled a high school romance with Ransom Locke, who she later married.  She was an accountant for the Eatons catalogue division in Moncton, N.B. After her second husband Ransom died in 1975, she raised three children alone and lived in Moncton until her death at age 88 in October.

Norma suffered from dementia in her later years and spent her final few years at Autumn Lea Retirement Home in Moncton.  She was diagnosed with terminal cancer in early 2025 and spent her last few months in palliative care at the Moncton General Hospital.  She was a kind and considerate soul who never complained and loved to laugh with her friends and children when they came to visit.

Cremation has already taken place as per her wishes and she will be buried on May 23, 2026, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, alongside her parents Clifford Ray Robertson and Ruth Bernice (née Goodick).  She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, son-in-law Glenn and his mother Cindy.

In lieu of flowers please donate in her name with the Canadian Cancer Society.

Arrangements were entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center (Riverview, NB). Donations and condolences may be expressed at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
