November 3, 1932 – April 29, 2026
Loris was born in Pointe-du-Chêne on November 3, 1932, to Fredrick and Helen Walker (née Brydges).
Later in her youth, she moved to Gunningsville where she’d eventually meet her husband Vernon M. Ward (1932-2021), along with many lifelong friends which she’d accumulate through her infectious warmth and profound respect for others.
Ever the hard worker, with a famously firm hand grip to match, Loris began her career at Oulton’s Business College before eventually finding her way to Eaton’s. Her wide-ranging experience would later prove invaluable as she supported Vernon in his business endeavours. Loris truly did it all. She balanced many roles while also running a busy household and, above all, being a devoted and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
Loris cherished her many years of friendship and service of Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, and an outreach sewing group. She was an incredible artist who loved oil and reverse painting and formed many friendships with a brush in hand. On top of that, she was also a gifted gardener, tending beautiful flowers, harvesting delicious string beans, and instinctively pruning any plant she passed. A consummate host, she offered guests everything from a wonderful meal to warm socks, always ensuring everyone felt comfortable and cared for.
Loris is survived by her children, Philip (Leanne) and Susan, her grandchildren Collin (Brittany) and Kate Ward (Sebastian), Ben (Emily) and Lauren Hollis, great granddaughter Violet and brother Richard. She was predeceased by her husband Vern, her parents (Fredrick and Helen Walker), her parents-in-law (Raymond and Edna Ward), in addition to her brothers (Alan Fred Jr., and Charles) and son-in-law (Gary Hollis).
Loris’ family wishes to extend their utmost gratitude to the staff at the Grass Home at 705 Coverdale who, over the last 5 years, have been nothing short of angels on earth. She was so happy to get home to you, give you a squeeze, and finally be at peace. Your care has been extraordinary, and we can’t thank you enough.
Cremation has taken place and private family service will be held as per her wishes. Arrangements entrusted to Fergusons Funeral Home & Fergusons Crematorium, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (506) 858-1995.
In lieu of flowers, all are encouraged to delight in the joys of gardening, just as she did. Plant a beautiful perennial to enjoy for years to come. Grow a vegetable that you can’t wait to get on your plate. Show some love to the plants you pass by. It’s truly what she would have wanted!
If considering making a donation in Loris’ memory, individuals are invited to donate to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or Friends of the Moncton Hospital.
